Tuesday = Taco Tuesday

If you are an international student in San Diego you probably already heard about the famous “Taco Tuesday”.

For those who are new and did not know what is about it’s basically that EVERY Tuesday many restaurants, especially in Pacific Beach, sell tacos for a really cheap price, something like $2 or $3.

The most famous place on this day is the “Typhoon Saloon” @1165 Garnet Avenue. Usually is super crowded so I advise you to get there around 7, 8pm otherwise, you will wait at least 30 minutes at the line.

Inside, around 9pm there is a DJ playing, beyond the tacos there is $5 Patron shots, discounted margaritas and beer.

You should go at least once, party a little bit in the middle of the week and taste this Mexican side in U.S!

What about a sunny day at Black's Beach?

Time to talk about what you were waiting for: California Beaches!

I will start talking not about the most famous one (that probably is Pacific Beach), but the one that is more different and beautiful than the others: Black’s Beach.

The beach has this name because of the “Black family” who had a horse farm overlooking in that location. Later, they sold the land that was subdivided into La Jolla Farms lots.

Black’s is the largest nude beach in the United States and is popular with Southern Californian nudists, surfers and naturists because it's visual that includes cliffs, good waves and squirrels. There are many different trails to get there, but usually I get the easiest one (I’m not a sport person) that you can get from La Jolla Farms.

Easy like Sunday morning - Seaport Village

Sunday tends to be a “lazy day” for many people, however, you are in California and there is no time to stay at home.The place that I love the most here in San Diego is always a good option for Sundays: Seaport Village.

In my opinion it is a place that you can go anytime of your day!

Morning time: you can go, take a walk around (or if you want to you can pay $5 for a bike ride) and have a breakfast at San Diego Pier Café or one of the restaurants of the Embarcadero.

Lunch time: you can eat at the awesome “The Fish Market Restaurant”. Beyond the great view, the food is just amazing.

Afternoon/night time: you can go and have a beer with friends at San Diego Burger Co. or check the others (many) options.

Why I like so much this place? First of all because it is calm place in between the crazy downtown. There you can eat, walk, chat with friends while enjoying great views (sunset there is so beautiful) and check pieces of public art along this.

More attractions at Seaport Village:
The “Unconditional Surrender”: one of the most stunning sculptures. As you can see in the picture that I post it is a 25-foot sculpture of a sailor kissing a young nurse. The sculpture commemorates the moment when World War II was finally over,

USS Midway: an aircraft carrier that was in operation between 1945 and 1992. It was donated as a museum ship and visitors can tour the ship’s flight deck, mess hall, bridge, flight control area, officers’ quarters, sickbay and portions of the engine room. A portion of the ship overlooking San Diego Harbor can be accessed free of charge while admission to the rest of the ship is $17.

Moreover there is the historic carousel, the National Salute sculptures and great stores such as Harley Davidson, Crazy Shitrts, American Nostalgia and many others. You can read more about this place by clicking here.

What is going on this Saturday?

Good morning everyone! October is coming and fortunately the cold weather looks far away from San Diego! So you want to do something today but do not know what?


Ok, I will give you two suggestions:

From yesterday to October 2nd people can enjoy for free a “Parade of flight”. This year theme is “A Salute to San Diego: Birthplace of Naval Aviation 1911-2011,” in honor of the centennial of both Naval and Marine Aviation. To check the whole schedule goes to the website.

Second one: The first Street Beat Block Party (www.Anthology.com)
Today, in Little Italy the doors will be open at 3pm and there will be great food, San Diego’s best micro-brews and musical entertainment by O.A.R, Gomez, Ximena Sariñana and more. It says the party goes until 10pm. Tickets are $39 for general admission, $59 for the reserved seating area and V.I.P. packages. Get your tickets on the website until they last.
